Some time ago we've developed a small online catalogue for a client of ours selling massage chairs. It was a neat little: site simple but effective. The business was a success and in August 2009 our client asked for a fully featured e-commerce solution to accommodate a growing range of products they sold.
The solution we felt would best fit our customer's needs was based on the popular open source CMS Joomla and the, also open source, online store component named VirtueMart.
Because both packages were open source software we were able to fine tune them to our customer's specs. Among other modifications, we've added a bonus card feature and simplified the ordering process so that customers have to go through fewer steps to actually place the order. Also every bit of the application was redesigned to integrate nicely with the website's design. We've put a lot of effort in developing the website, but the results were great and after 1 month the new site was up and running.
Throughout the project our customer wanted to keep the old site as well so we quickly applied the new design to the old script as well and moved it to another domain.
The result: we've built two websites in one project and both do really well now. We also host the two websites and they've constantly had 100% uptime so we're making sure our customer can make the most out of his two new websites. It's so great to see a customer growing and we wish them good luck with their business.
