Mosaic is a free-issue magazine produced three times a year and covers green, complementary, creative, ethical, holistic and spiritual matters.
In October 2009 our partners at Creative Angels were helping Mosaic redesign their website and were in need of somebody to implement the design and build a mailing list. Here's where we came in and less than a month later the new mosaic-lifestyle.com was up and running.
The solution is based on the popular Open Source CMS Joomla and the also Open Source mailing list solution poMMo. As with other projects we've chosen Joomla as CMS because of it's flexiblity, and ease of use. The large number of extensions available for Joomla allows us to concentrate on developing only the few things that aren't available, thus keeping the cost and turnaround time to a minimum.
For the mailing list part of the project we've decided to use poMMo mainly because it was just so easy to use. Unlike other mailing list solutions the interface is straight forward with only the features you need. Integration with the website's overall look and feel was also straight forward. The user won't even notice it's another script that's serving the pages.
Because it's a free issue magazine our client also wanted it to be available for online reading, and to make it look and feel like a real magazine we've acquired a PageFlip license for Mosaic and created a Joomla component around it so that it would integrate well with the rest of the site.
The overall result was great and our client is very happy with their new website. We look forward to helping them with any of their new projects.
